♦EMBSA Update - July 13, 2020:

Dear Parents and friends, we at East Meadow Baseball/ Softball Association are happy to be playing ball again, but we want to be safe as well. We have put in place some safety measures for your children to follow in the dugouts and on the field and we have some for you too:

* Limit players in the dugout and have some players sit in designated seats in the bleachers
* We will provide extra catchers equipment so one set is always disinfected by one of the coaches
*  We will instruct the players that there are no seeds allowed in dugout or on the field, no spitting of seeds
* We will use a different ball for each team at bat
* We will have all adults on the field and in dugouts wear masks
* We will have each team clean the dugout before and after every game
* We will have the bathrooms cleaned periodically depending on situations
* We will limit bathroom capacity to one adult and one child
* We will not be serving food or drink
* We will supply disinfection stations through out the Complex.
* We will have teams enter and exit fields from different gates
* We will post signage and distance markers
We ask that you help us keep your children and all other guests safe as well while you are on the Complex.
* Please practice Social Distancing
* Please don't sit in the player's designated area on the bleachers
* Please wear a mask
* Please limit bathroom occupancy
* Please STAY HOME if you or your child have any symptoms of or exposure to COVID-19
* Please limit spectators to two per player
* Please discourage the sharing of food and drink
As we get ready to play ball the following MUST be adhered to by all players:
 * No sharing equipment
 * Players will sit in dugout and bleachers in marked area
 * No seeds or bubble gum in dugout or on the field
  *Bat rack can not be used
 *No sharing of food or drink
 *No after game handshake
 *No High 5's with teammates
 *Two sets of catcher's equipment
 *Limited bathroom capacity
 *After game ends teams will leave via outfield gate
* No after game meetings
 *New team to wait for dugout to be empty before they enter.

WE are in this together, WE need to keep our community safe and healthy.  Let's all enjoy the season !

Congratulations Brendan Wilkowski - 2020 East Meadow High School Salutatorian!!

EMBSA tips their caps to Brendan Wilkowski as he is this year's East Meadow High School Salutatorian!  Brendan had played with East Meadow Little League from Tball through Senior League and is currently a member of the EMBSA youth umpire crew.  EMBSA is very proud of Brendan's accomplishments and wishes him much success as he enters the next important chapter of his life at Yale.  Way to Go Brendan!!

As seen in the East Meadow Patch: https://patch.com/new-york/eastmeadow/east-meadow-announces-top-students-class-2020

East Meadow High School salutatorian Brendan Wilkowski boasts an impressive record of academic and extracurricular achievements, as well. During his high school career, he received a perfect score of 36 on the ACT, a near-perfect score of 1590 on the SAT, and was awarded the George Washington University Engineering Medal and a National Merit Scholarship Corporation Scholarship. He was named a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete from his freshman through junior years and was on the honor roll every quarter throughout his high school career. Similarly, he was also awarded the NYPD Scholarship and the 2020 NYU Winthrop Hospital Sports Medicine Scholarship while also being a semifinalist in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

Brendan belonged to several honor societies in high school, including the National Honor Society, for which he was a board member, and the Math, Science, Social Studies, English and Spanish honor societies. As a student-musician, he was an All-County trombonist and head of the brass ensemble in the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Outside of the classroom, he worked at CAPE and umpired youth softball and baseball for the East Meadow Little League.

Combining his leadership skills and altruism, Brendan formed his own free tutoring organization called Supreme Test Prep. In addition, he spent many hours performing community service at Hope Fitness, a fitness center for disabled adults. Lastly, he was a tour guide at the Center for Science Teaching and Learning and volunteered at various charitable walks, including those for ALS and breast cancer.

Brendan's favorite high school memory is being named "Most Likely to Succeed" at the Senior Banquet. "This feat meant a great deal to me because I felt that I had truly made an impact on those around me and that they thought highly of me," he said.

Even though he was not able to share the last few weeks of high school with his classmates, Brendan wants his peers to recognize their importance at this pivotal time in history. "As we each head out on different paths in life, it is important to remember that we will be shaping the course of history," he said. "We have the ability to truly improve this world as we progress in life, whether that be in small showings of affection or large discoveries."

Brendan will attend Yale University in the fall, where he will major in biomedical engineering and economics.
